Alan Kingsley, CPA, received a B.S. in Accounting from San Diego State and a Master’s Degree in Taxation from the University of Texas at Austin. After retiring from public accounting firms and corporate tax departments, he returned to his childhood pursuit of music and flute performance and has expanded his interests into other arts. He recently completed three A.A. degrees at Diablo Valley College (DVC): (1) Music, (2) Art – Digital Media, and (3) Fine Art. He also completed two certificate programs: Recording Arts and Music Industry Studies. He has studied flute performance privately with Frederick Baker (San Diego Symphony), Damian Bursill-Hall (Pittsburgh Symphony), Susan Waller, (DMA, U.C. Santa Cruz), and Mary Fettig (Stan Kenton alumuna).

Alan plays as assistant principal with the Diablo Valley College Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed with the Oakland Civic Orchestra and Diablo Symphony. He recently performed the Frigyes Hidas Flute Concerto with the DVC Symphonic Band. He also performed the Cimarosa Double Flute Concerto with the DVC Philharmonic. Several years ago, he added jazz study to his portfolio and has taken classes at The Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, California as well as DVC. He is an active chamber musician and serves as a workshop director and corporate secretary for the non-profit Chamber Musicians of Northern California.
